Wedding oscar suggestions: from Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, Ideas for a Fairytale Wedding
But let’s proceed in order. The evening opened with a performance that left everyone speechless (with a standing ovation from the audience): Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, stars of the highly anticipated film adaptation of “Wicked,” joined their voices in an emotional duet, retracing in a medley the most iconic songs from “The Wizard of Oz.” The most touching moment of their performance was the finale, a version of “Defying Gravity.”
Transforming a wedding into a fairytale is a common desire, but the challenge is to bring this magic into the real world. Regarding music, we know how to create the perfect soundtrack for your fairytale. We select the most iconic songs, rework them into versions suitable for the different moments of the party, and insert them into our DJ set in a harmonious and engaging way.
Among the Nominations, Also the Great Elton John
The Best Original Song category, presented by Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, saw fierce competition, with high-level nominations:
- “Mi Camino” Emilia Pérez, performed by Selena Gomez
- “The Journey” The Six Triple Eight, performed by H.E.R.
- “Like a Bird” Sing Sing, performed by Abraham Alexander & Adrian Quesada
- “Never Too Late” Elton John: Never Too Late, performed by Elton John & Brandi Carlile
But in the end, “El Mal” – Emilia Pérez sung by Zoe Saldaña (Jacques Audiard, Camille & Clément Ducol, lyrics) was elected Best Original Song. It is a fierce critique and analysis of corruption and social inequalities in Mexico, with references to politicians, criminals, and figures of power. A beautiful piece without a doubt, but certainly not suitable to be proposed at a wedding party.
Soundtracks: Remembering the Bocelli Duet
In addition to Best Original Song, the Oscars also awarded Best Soundtrack. Daniel Blumberg wins for the music of “The Brutalist” by Brady Corbet with Adrien Brody, Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones, and Joe Alwyn.
The already two-time Oscar winner Hans Zimmer was left empty-handed (his soundtrack for “Dune Part Two” was officially disqualified from the Awards). However, you will remember last year, under his guidance, the song “Con te partirò / Time to say goodbye” sung by Andrea and Matteo Bocelli, which took on a new emotional dimension, becoming an ode to memory and love. Their performance was an unforgettable tribute that left an indelible mark on the evening.
A Tribute to James Bond: A Winning Idea for a Theme Wedding
Raye, Lisa (K-pop star), and the American rapper and singer Doja Cat performed to pay tribute to the James Bond film saga. Lisa started by singing “Live And Let Die” by Wings (from the 1973 film of the same name). Then Doja Cat performed “Diamonds Are Forever” by Shirley Bassey (from the 1971 film).
This performance gives us the opportunity to remember a James Bond theme wedding we created in 2024, with a selection ranging from bossa nova (with 007 songs expertly adapted to this “mood” for an aperitif) to dance versions of “Golden Eye” sung by Tina Turner.
A Piece to Create a Magical Atmosphere at the Cake Cutting
Ariana Grande, during the Oscars evening, also performed a magnificent rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” For the wedding cake cutting, this famous song immortalized by Judy Garland in the 1939 film is perfect: ideal for recreating a magical and romantic moment. This song evokes a sense of hope, suggesting that beyond tangible reality lies something wonderful, the fulfillment of our deepest desires.
Over the years, countless prominent artists have reinterpreted this song, including legendary figures such as Frank Sinatra, Mina, Ella Fitzgerald, Maceo Parker, Nick Cave, Kylie Minogue, Ray Charles, Glenn Miller, the Deed Parpol, Joe Satriani, Aretha Franklin, and many others.
However, it is the version by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole (known as “Iz”) that has infused the song with a particular intensity. The Hawaiian singer created an ethereal and timeless atmosphere, ideal for expressing the dream of a more just and beautiful world, beyond the horizon of the rainbow. The lyrics are a poem that moves with its simplicity, bringing out the innate desire to appreciate the little things that frenetic life prevents us from enjoying: the singing of birds, the clouds, the blue sky. Elements that, while seeming obvious, risk slipping out of our grasp.
Ceremony: A Touching Moment That Needs Detailed Attention
During the ceremony, the “Los Angeles Master Chorale” choir also performed, accompanying some moments of the award ceremony with its majestic vocals. This performance suggests the idea of a choir to accompany significant moments of the ceremony or reception, creating a solemn and evocative atmosphere.
