New songs from the 2022 Super Bowl

Once again, we, ProfessionalWeddingDJ, was among the millions of viewers (over 100 million) of the most important and most talked-about music event: the Super Bowl 2022 half time show (we also wrote about the Grammy Awords, if you need others inpirations). This is because often, it is very useful for understanding the music trends of the moment, especially in America. After all, we have a lot of American spouses who celebrate their wedding in Italy, who hire us for their DJ set.
This year the location was SoFi Stadium, the home of the Rams (23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals) in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The whole affair was a love declaration for the city and music that distinguished it, starting from the stage, with the “Eve After Dark” sign as a reference to the legendary nightclub.
The 2022 half time show was also a celebration of hip hop music and its 30 years history, starting from west coast hip hop key member, Dr. Dre, who influenced the evolution of hip hop over the years. He also has a strong influence on other talented hip hop exponents, who took the half-time stage: Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem. These hip hop kings produced many cornerstones of wedding parties, especially in the clean versions of songs, since often there are swear words that in family events do not appreciate.
SOME OLD SCHOOL HIP HOP FOR YOUR WEDDING? WHY NOT
One of the more engaging moments was probably to see Dre and Snoop Dog singing “California Love”, a tribute to Tupac. The first surprise of the event was 50 Cent, who followed Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, performing upside down.
Then, Kendrick Lamar gave us a meaningful moment, choosing his most important song, Alright.
After Kendrick Lamar, Eminem took the stage and, at the end of “Lose Yourself”, he knelt, giving a significant image of solidarity for Colin Kaepernick. Other football players did that during the national anthem.
During Lose Yourself, there was also the second big surprise: Anderson .Paak played the drums!
At the beginning of 2021, Paak and Bruno Mars formed the super duo Silk Sonic. The debut single, “Leave the Door Open”, in March 2021, was a success, reaching number one in US Billboard Hot 100. It’s a romantic (and sensual) R&B song with typical funky sound characterizing Bruno Mars’ music production. It could be perfect for the first dance of young and passionate spouses.
Probably everybody already knew, but with the “Family Affair” and “No More Drama” performances during the half time, Mary J. Blige showed, again, that she is the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul.
Family Affair, Mary J. Blige’s 2002 hit, was defined by Rolling Stones magazine “a perfect dance song,” and we still love to play it during dance moments at our wedding parties.
