The best of wedding party music of 2020

The songs to remember of the year 2020

Dear friends of ProfessionalWeddingDJ, the new year has just begun, and the best of 2020 wedding music was awaited by many of you (here you can read the one of 2019, which sums up the decade). Also in this year, difficult for many, and certainly different, we wanted to dedicate some time to retrace “the soundtrack of 2020” with you.

We do it, as always, with special attention to the music that we at ProfessionalWeddingDJ played the most, giving you some tips for the playlist of your most beautiful day.

During the lockdown, when dancing parties were prohibited, and discos were not open to the public, a lot of floorfillers came out. Keep them in mind when we’ll be back to dance !

Let’s start with “In My Arms” by Purple Disco Machine, “Tequila” by Jax Jones and “Madan”, by Haska and Salif Keita (remake of the 2003 version, which was a huge success!).

For the more club addicted spouses, then, we must absolutely point out Fisher’s “Freaks”, which, honestly, never disappoints!

We also want to mention some captivating pop pieces: “Supalonely” by Benee, “Physical” by Dua Lipa and three Lady Gaga’s songs: “Stupid Love”, “911” and “Rain on me” in a duet with Ariana Grande. Rain On Me was also remixed by Purple Disco Machine, a really important presence of 2020: in addition to the mentioned “In My Arms”, also “Hypnotized”, the very recent “Exotica” (with a very 80s” sound) and the remix of “On My Mind” by Diplo & Sidepiece.

On the R&B side, there was the very welcome return of Drake, after a two-year absence from the album Scorpion. The new “Laugh Now Cry Later”, with the typical black sound of the Canadian rapper, reintroduced some groove in this 2020: we really needed it.

We also appreciated Jason Derulo’s “Savage Love” (in collaboration with Jawsh 685) and Justin Timberlake’s “The Other Side”.

And the smashing hits of 2020? For sure “Jerusalema” of Master KG, a song great for a wedding dance or a nice flash mob (we have already tested it in a wedding party in early August, respecting all the rules of course!).

For the romantic (but not too much) moments of your wedding party we recommend “Souvenir” by Selena Gomez: it has romantic text and quick rhythm, not exactly suitable for a slow one… We definitely will find the most appropriate moment for playing this track during your party!

“No, I can’t sleep until I feel your touch” is one of the most romantic lyrics of this year, played by The Weeknd in the beautiful and award-winning “Blinding Lights”. While in “Level of concern” Twenty one pilots sing about love and quarantine.

Straight from the night of the 2020 Oscars (even though it won no prize) a track from the movie Breakthrough: “I’m Standing With You” by Chrissy Metz. The romantic atmosphere makes the song perfect for the first dance. It will certainly be requested in international weddings.

On the Italian side, the Sanremo 2020 festival (the most important music show in Italy) offered some interesting ideas, especially thanks to the guests and duets. We we want to highlight Raphael Gualazzi, with Carioca (beautiful rhythm in Brazilian style) and his cover with a jazz arrangement, of the song “E se domani” (originally performed by Mina), in duet with the talented Simona Molinari. Thanks to the refined atmospheres it is perfect for a classy wedding party. How about inserting it in a jazz background during the dinner?

Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen is certainly not a novelty, but an absolute classic, used by many spouses during the ceremony. This time, however, we propose it again in a version performed by the great tenor Andrea Bocelli and his sweet little daughter Virginia for a magical evening, a truly evocative Christmas concert, from the Teatro Regio di Parma entitled “Believe in Christmas”.

And let’s finish with a last minute treat: released in december, “Afterglow” is the latest single by Ed Sheeran, after the stop taken by the artist for the birth of his first daughter, already a youtube trend topic and certainly a trend topic for the upcoming ProfessionalWeddingDJ wedding parties.

The singer has put a lot of himself into this intimate work and the cover is designed by Ed Sheeran himself.

And we end these article by quoting some sweet words from Afterglow

We were love-drunk, waiting on a miracle
Tryna find ourselves in the winter snow
So alone in love like the world had disappeared
Oh, I won’t be silent and I won’t let go
I will hold on tighter ’til the afterglow
And we’ll burn so bright ’til the darkness softly clears
