Some romantic songs straight from Los Angeles

The 92nd edition of the Oscar awards has just ended; as always, it was held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, and was broadcast live in the United States by ABC. An event that influences, for sure, the film market, and also greatly conditions the musical aspect: often, after the Oscar, the songs of the soundtracks that get some awards the event, have a peak of requests and visibility. First, however, two words about the winner: the most awarded film was Parasite, with four golden statues assigned (included the “best movie” award).
And the winner is….
But let’s immediately talk about music: the prize awarded for the best song has nothing to do with the winning film. The ‘Best Original Song’ of the 2020 Oscar is ( I’m gonna) Love Me Again, played in the movie Rocketman by Taron Egerton (this song has already been awarded the “Best Original Song” at the Globe Awards).
For a special first dance
A very romantic song, “I’m Standing With You”, played by Chrissy Metz, in the film Breakthrough, did not go beyond the nomination. The text and the atmospheres are very romantic, and for the first dance it would be perfect: after the showcase of the Oscars, it will undoubtedly be among the songs that you will ask for more (in particular, it will be popular in international weddings).
Here is a step:
Through whatever you go through
I’m standing with you
And wherever you go to (You go to), I’ll stand beside you
And when you think that all the odds are all against you
Also noteworthy is “Into the Unknown” by Idina Aurora Menzel, taken from the soundtrack of Frozen II, in this beautiful instrumental version, perfect for the bride and groom entry!
It has a nice moment “in crescendo” at minute 1 and 3 seconds, which makes everything more “solemn” and dynamic (the prelude of the song, instead, is very soft).
The Oscar for the best soundtrack (not therefore the single song, but the “global” soundtrack of the film) goes to Hildur Guðnadóttir, author of the music for Joker. The other nominees are:
Thomas Newman – 1917
Randy Newman – Marriage Story
Alexandre Desplat – Little Women
John Williams – Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
