Dear friends of ProfessionalWeddingDJ, the end of the year is fast approaching and we thought we would give you a very special gift as we triumphantly enter the 20s of the new millennia. We would like to review with you today, with a decidedly “sweet” look, this musical decade which is drawing to a close. We thought of the most romantic songs that stood out in ProfessionalWeddingDJ’s wedding parties between 2010 and 2019; perfect for the newlyweds’ first dance and the cutting of the cake, where the theme is always love. There are also a couple of romantic and very rhythmic pieces perfect for the entrance of the bride and groom. We are confident that they will be a good inspiration for the playlist of your happiest day!
2010
The sensual voice of Nicole Scherzinger gives a truly magical atmosphere to a very successful track by Enrique Iglesias: “Heartbeat“. Moving on to more R&B sounds, we must mention “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars. It’s been 10 years since its release and this song still hasn’t lost its charm, speaking to the exceptional talent of this artist who in a few years rose to the top of every international chart. Finally, 2010 was also the year of a song, which in our opinion was particularly successful, by James Blunt. “Stay The Night” has a fresh and rhythmic sound making it perfect for an outstanding entrance for the bride and groom. Speaking instead of Italian music (our service is for international weddings in Italy, but sometimes something “typical” Italian is required), from a successful film by Gabriele Muccino comes one of the most romantic songs written by Jovanotti: “Baciami ancora”. This track is perfect for different moments of the wedding party: for the bride and groom’s dance and for the cutting of the cake. For sure, in the years 2010-2014, it was at the top of the preferences of the Italian spouses.
2011
Adele, with her wonderful voice, gave us “Someone Like You” in 2011, a slow song that can’t get any warmer (the lyrics are not the best for a wedding, but the melody is so beautiful that many newlyweds, even while knowing this, requested the song). We at ProfessionalWeddingDJ, who also have some soul, can’t leave out one of the most complete and talented artists: Alicia Keys who gave us “You Don’t Know My Name“, a classy choice for your wedding party, also very popular with international weddings, at which we have been successfully involved for many years.
2012
A year brimming with songs to dance to and be merry, from “Ai se eu te pego!” By Michel Telò, to “Call me maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen and, especially “Don’t you worry child” – Swedish House Mafia, but not very generous with romantic hits. We nonetheless managed to find one: si tratta di L’Amore è una cosa semplice del bravissimo Tiziano Ferro (we had this request when one of the newlyweds is of Italian origin). You should however be cautious of “Somebody that I used to know” by Gotye, which “sounds” like a romantic song, but in reality, the story is far from suitable for a festive occasion like marriage:
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don’t even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger, and that feels so rough
2013
For 2013 we have selected a quartet of very talented women. We kick off with Katy Perry and “Unconditionally“, an engaging song that is a true declaration of love, moving on to Mariah Carey with the enthralling R&B rhythm of #Beautiful (in collaboration with Miguel), not leaving out the consistently talented Elisa, with “L’anima vola” (Elisa is also well known internationally: she sang in English at the beginning of her career). Special mention of Rihanna with “Stay”, poignant and very sweet. Below, some topic words:
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can’t live without you
It takes me all the way
I want you to stay, stay
I want you to stay, hooh
2014
We are opening 2014 with Beyoncé’s “XO”. Released in December 2013, it was a novelty highly appreciated by our newlyweds throughout 2014. But the song accompanying the bride and groom with ProfessionalWeddingDJ in recent years has undoubtedly been “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. It is still among the most popular for the first dance of the bride and groom… also for its beautiful choreography that is sometimes taken up by the most daring. A real classic, for “made in Italy” and international weddings.
2015
We are in 2015 and a classic romantic ballad catapults us into a textbook love story, swept away by the wonderful voices of Nathan Sykes and Ariana Grande: “Over And Over Again” is a sweet hymn to love. Even more heart-rending and definitely melancholic is Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On The Wall”. Meanwhile, Calvin Harris and his beautiful “How Deep Is Your Love” is ideal for couples looking for a good, steady rhythm, even in the most sentimental moments.
2016
A real must for cutting the cake at ProfessionalWeddingDJ’s wedding parties is undoubtedly Coldplay’s “UP and UP“. In that typical crescendo characterizing most of the songs of the British band led by Chris Martin, it’s impossible not to become emotionally engrossed!
2017
2017 literally had us spoilt for choice on the romance front. Céline Dion enchanted us with “How Does A Moment Last Forever”. With its romantic lyrics and fast-paced rhythm, “Something Just Like This” (The Chainsmokers) is the perfect song for a lively bride and groom entrance. Ex One Direction star, Harry Styles, revelation of 2017, gives us a musical poem entitled SweetCreature. Let’s end this love music perfect 2017 with …… of course Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect“: one of the biggest hits of all time, and not only of the 2010-2019 decade.
2018
For the cameras and lighter moments, we have greatly appreciated and used in our 2018 wedding parties, the lovely “Breathin” by Ariana Grande. “Let our hearts be the only sound” by James Bay in Wild Love. Will it become a classic for PWDJ party lenses? The contemporary sound and romantic lyrics of “For You” by Liam Payne & Rita is a perfect song for cutting the cake.
2019
And here we are at the end of this decade in music. 2019 was undoubtedly the year of a true queen of pop, who never ceases to amaze with her eclectic talent: Lady Gaga as the leading actress in the movie “A Star is Born”. The intense Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper duet single – “Shallow” – was released at the end of 2018 and enjoyed great success throughout 2019, reaching acclaim, in the Academy Award for Best Song! In summer came “Stay” (David Guetta feat Raye), a very sensual house song with the beautiful voice of Raye:
There’s something about you, baby The way you look me in my eyes It would kill me to watch you walk away, so Stay by my side
